MOTORCYCLE INSTRUCTORS COURSE

Prepation course for the 2 part motorcycle instructors assessment run by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA).

To qualify as a DSA approved motorcycle instructor you must attend and successfully complete a two part assessment at the DSA training and development centre at Cardington Bedfordshire.

All potential instructors must meet the following criteria.

  Must hold a full motorcycle licence for a minimum 3 years from date of test
   Meet the DSA criteria as a fit and proper person and give details of any      motoring offences acquired within the last 4 years

Part 1: CBT instructor Course

Our 5day course fully prepares you giving you the knowledge and practical experience you will require for the two day assessment of your instructional and supervisory skills. This will qualify you to run your own training school and to “Down train” instructors for your training school.

Our tutorials comprehensively cover the following subjects on which you will be assessed.

  CBT introduction
  Introduction to motorcycle
  Practical on-site training
  Practical on-site riding
  Practical on-road riding

On completion of the course you will have enhanced communication and teaching skills and be able to deliver lessons on all the above subjects to the DSA standards.

The training takes place at our training centre at Mosshill Industrial Estate (MAP) and starts promptly at 9am and generally finishes at 2pm.

Part 2: The Direct Access scheme Instructor course

The course can only be undertaken after the successful completion of CBT instructor assessment at Cardington. This two day course will prepare you for the half day assessment. This tests your instructional ability to adapt to a new rider on a larger machine.

Our tutorials and practical lessons comprehensively cover the following subjects on which you will be assessed.

  Big bike familiarisation – Where you familiarise the new rider with their     machine
  Onsite handling – Where you assist the new rider to overcome problems they     are having adapting to their new machine
  On-road tests – Your assessment will consist of three on road lessons from     the list of twelve on road scenarios

On completion of the course you will have enhanced communication and teaching skills and be able to deliver lessons on all the above subjects to the DSA standards.
